During the drawing of a $170 million jackpot on Wednesday night (August 9th), after none of the players matched all six numbers, the estimated value of the Powerball jackpot for Saturday (August 12th) is expected to be $194 million.
Here are the results of Wednesday’s Powerball game:
Numbers: 10-15-21-67-69
Powerball: 3
After a player in Los Angeles won a $1.08 million drawing on July 19th, the Powerball jackpot returned to $20 million. In the Fashion District of Los Angeles, California, a ticket bought at Las Palmitas Mini Market matched the red Powerball and all five white numbers.
This drawing was the third-largest in game history and the seventh-largest in American lottery history. Following a $253 million drawing won by a player in Ohio on April 19th, the Powerball jackpot returned to $20 million, followed by consecutive Mega Millions jackpots on April 18th and 14th.
According to the official Powerball website, a player from California matched all six numbers on November 7th to win a record-breaking $2.04 billion ($997.6 million) jackpot, the largest in American lottery history.
On January 13th, 2016, a Powerball drawing of $1.586 billion ($983.5 million cash value) set the previous record for the world’s largest jackpot for both cash value and annuity. In January 2016, three tickets in California, Florida, and Tennessee shared a $1.586 billion Powerball jackpot, setting the record for the world’s largest jackpot (cash value and annuity) and the highest per-ticket cash value.
The Mega Millions game has also seen jackpots surpass $1 billion five times, with a recent win of $1.25 billion on Friday (August 4th). Powerball and Mega Millions games previously offered a combined jackpot of over $1.7 billion in January 2021.
During each subsequent game, both jackpots grow until a ticket matching all six numbers is drawn, including an additional Mega Millions gold ball or Powerball in each relevant game.
