A Delta flight bound for Barcelona from Atlanta on Friday had to make an emergency landing due to a passenger suffering from a severe case of diarrhea while aboard the plane.
The pilot, communicating with air traffic control, referred to the situation as a “biohazard issue,” stating that a passenger had experienced diarrhea throughout the entire aircraft.
According to an audio clip shared on LiveATC.com, the pilot said, “This is a biohazard issue. We had a passenger who had diarrhea throughout the entire aircraft, so they want us to return to Atlanta.”
The recorded conversation from LiveATC.com was later shared on social media platforms like Twitter.
Following the incident, passengers and the flight crew were relocated, and the flight eventually arrived in Barcelona the next day.
According to Flightradar24 data, the Delta flight arrived in Spain approximately eight hours late.
It is unclear whether the passenger responsible for the incident was on board when the aircraft finally landed in Spain or not.
According to an Insider report, Delta officials confirmed a “medical issue” on the plane. They stated that the aircraft was thoroughly cleaned after the incident.
However, they did not provide more details regarding the specific medical condition involved.
